Move over Kate, Keira’s the new Brit beauty!
The summer season is barely here and already designers everywhere are scrambling to find the perfect new face for their 2007 campaigns.
In keeping with breathtaking British beauties, Chanel has decided to replace Kate Moss with rising starlet Keira Knightley for next year’s Coco Mademoiselle campaign, the design house’s sweet and sexy fragrance. Expanding her seemingly golden portfolio, Keira’s fabulous face will be featured in various print and TV ads next year.
Keira already has many successful films under her chunky, high-waist belt, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Domino and Pride and Prejudice (for which she received an Oscar nod). Not to mention she has seriously hit the co-star jackpot, scoring roles opposite hunks like Johnny Depp and Matthew Macfadyen.
Though there was reportedly a slew of gab-worthy gals in the running for this campaign, Chanel saw a spark in Keira.
“When I look at her choice of diverse roles from Pride and Prejudice, which is timeless like Chanel, to Domino, where she plays a bounty hunter, I am continually struck by the fact the women she plays are very independent and make up their own minds—very much like Mademoiselle Chanel herself,” says Maureen Chiquet, head of Chanel’s U.S. business.
Being paralleled to one of the greatest women in fashion history isn’t too shabby! Keep an eye for lots of Keira Knightley in the next year.
