Clothing, Wasps and Ring-tones

So I know it’s only August, and we are technically kind of in the middle of summer, but all the stores are fooling us.

Walking through a mall you'd swear it is already mid-September with all the sweaters and jackets and woolly things! It kind of irks me, to be honest, because as you well know by now I am a summer gal. This whole early ushering in of autumn freaks me out!

Whatever will I do without my flip flops?! Solution: ankle boots with skinny jeans!

I think this just might be the year to transform my negative feelings toward September because fall fashion is so CUTE! I love the big belts you wear cinched at the waist, and the military-inspired skirts and jackets.

I would love to come up with an ultimate fall fashion must list. So please give me advice!

Along with changing fashion, there is some other stuff I've noticed that starts the whole summer/fall transformation...cooler evenings, worn-out sandals and WASPS. (I am officially wasp-phobic, and can no longer sit on outdoor patios without screaming and flailing my arms pathetically, making me embarrassing company. Everyone says I overreact but honestly, wasps are frightening little things.) Anyway…

Ring-tones—love ’em, hate ’em, what is your ring-tone? It is so hard for me to find one I want to stick with, so I ultimately end up going back to the classic “rriing.”

i hear you on the fall fashion hitting the stores in mid august, and sometimes even as early as mid july. it drives me nuts! i mean...i had the hardest time finding a bathing suit in JULY. whats with that?

anyway, i could never pick a ringtone and stick with it before. but um...when the-n released the degrassi theme song ringtone, that was it. stickiest ringtone ever. lol

Fall fashions? Shoes, hah. ANY shoes. I have a BIG BIG thing for shoes! But other than shoes, I really like victorian style tops. I also like the trench coat kinda look. My ringtone, it's just the standard cingular ringtone!

ahh... the beauty of fall. the mood, weather, and fashion. i don't know about the weather in toronto, but down here in california, it's still as warm as summer. except the blistering sun isn't beating down our backs as much. i love the fall personally and how the warm, mellow colours just come out through the leaves falling from the trees and such.

as far as the ringtones go, i usually buy the ringtone of the song that i'm knockin' or the song that gets me hyped up (or what we call in the bay area, hyphy). currently, it's "sexyback" by justin timberlake. however, i'm thinking of buying "ring the alarm" by beyonce for next month.

Fall fashion for me includes comfy stuff that looks not stoo lounge-wear (like great sweaters and fleece) and I love the "ugg like boots" that aren't name brand (from target and other stores), since they mean warm feet without socks (hate socks)!

as for the ringtone, I have a tropical sounding one, not any song really, just the caribbean feel. if I go with a song, it's almost always something late 80s/early 90s. Like my myspace, I use New Kids, old school Outkast, and some of the lesser known Garth Brooks songs.

Hi Miriam,

I've read your latest blog and here's my advice on fashion, how about mini skirts, you'll look great in mini skirts and go-go boots just like Nancy Sinatra and a black sweater just like Ali McGraw wore on "Love Story" and of course a great pair of pantyhose or stockings to match the mini skirt, just like the slogan saids "Nothing beats a great pair of legs!"

For casual style, try a white t shirt, kakki pants, and brown sandals. to add some flavor, get a brown blazer to match the colors. And for the elegant and glamorus look, try a red prom-style dress with red open toed high heels.

I don't have a cell phone, but here's my ringtone song choices.

4.)Friday on My Mind
5.)I Can See Clearly Now

BTW, I think the new season of Degrassi:TNG will be great.

Too many people to wear someone else's cast off clothes would be distasteful, and many may say "never in a million years". BUT times are a changing, most folk are on a tight budget and really decent, quality clothes cost the earth, so buying clothes second hand makes real economic sense.
Sure there are charity and thrift shops around most street corner but the quantity and quality of goods on offer is often limited and time consuming.
