Counting Down the Days

Counting Down the Days

Well, first off, I must say that prom was a success! ….however not without a few fashion hiccups. As I mentioned before, I was feeling major stress about “the dress.” So, I decided to take your advice and buy a special one for the occasion—easier said than done! Since most stores have been cleaned out of my size (apparently many girls wear a size 8!) and I didn’t want to end up with the same dress as another student, I headed to a cool little vintage store called Stella Luna. The owner has a basement filled with dresses and despite the fact that my mom and I spent an hour perusing through racks of gowns, nothing was quite right. I was disappointed but at the same time it made me realize the one I had was perfect. So, I decided to go on a shoe hunt. (Now let me tell you, size 10 feet are a PAIN! You look at the display shoes in a dainty size 6 and when you get them on they look like BOATS!) Off I went to Nine West (which, by the way, has the most awesome shoes right now) and bought a pair of patent leather, sky-high heels. When I got home I realized the following equation:

Long legs + high heels + short poufy dress = fashion disaster!

So back I went (on the DAY OF prom, I might add) to N.W. to pick up these beautiful rounded-toe suede and patent shoes! I LOVE THEM! …And most importantly I was able to dance in them ALL night long!

I love to dress up—what girl doesn’t? I got another opportunity at the CTV Upfront Launch. With beautiful linen white pants and those new shoes I didn’t get to wear at prom, I arrived in style (CTV sent a private chauffeured limo). When I arrived, I met up with my fellow cast members and we were escorted into a holding room. Now this was not just any holding room! In it were the stars of CTV’s hottest shows: Alex Trebek, The OC’s Kelly Rowan, several CSI hotties and news personalities. CTV goes all out for this function! Every floor of the Hummingbird Centre had a different theme. One floor was Desperate Housewives-themed and even had Brie look-alikes walking around and serving pâté! Another floor was for Grey’s Anatomy and had hospital beds and cute guys in white coats with stethoscopes wandering around. It was QUITE an experience!

I’m about to meet up with a few friends to enjoy my new FAVOURITE food—sushi! A lot of people have a stigma about raw fish but it is totally unfounded. Sushi is so good for you, and with a little ginger and wasabi it tastes AMAZING! My favourite kind is the Dynamite roll, which is shrimp tempura sushi! YUM!

Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine! I can’t wait until my exams are done next week. Miriam and I have decided that we are going to go down to the beach as often as we can. I can’t wait to feel the sun on my back, the lake’s breeze and to play a little beach volleyball. What’s your favourite part about summer?

Here are a few of my summer faves:

  1. Ice cream trucks
  2. Hot dogs
  3. BBQs on warm summer nights—I LOVE the smell of meat sizzling on the grill
  4. Bike rides by the lake
  5. Outdoor concerts
  6. Water fights
  7. No worries other than remembering to turn over while tanning!

Until next time, I’ll be counting down the days until my summer break begins!

Check out Sarah's personal photos from prom night and the CTV Upfront Launch party.

I'm amazed by your affinity for writing, I really am. You just have "it" and if acting doesn't work out for you, I'm sure writing would. Your previous entry was even more compelling; the descriptions were lovely.

And of course all the clothing turned out perfectly, not that I would have expected otherwise since you're about a polar opposite to Liberty. Good to hear you enjoyed the prom AND the launch party.

Summer faves? Well, less pain from illness is always a plus. Summer rain--that warm, light rain that you can hear on the roof--I think I love it most in many ways.

I am so happy your prom went thrillingly. I was delighted that you ended up wearing the vintage dress with blazing on fire new shoes. That dress was a guaranteed winner and also ensured that no one else had it. I'm pretty sure everyone was all oooing and aahhhing over it (since they didnt see that dress in any of the 100 stores in the eatons centre)-hehe.
The pic looks wonderful. You are a BEAUTIFUL young lady.

I saw the pics from the ctv launch party. Honestly, you're lucky that you can take part in these events in this wonderful country of ours. It is making me sort of jealous. Your description of the party makes me pine to become an actor--squarely for the parties. aaahhh.

Isn't sushi the bomb??! Honestly a year ago i was all like eewww and swore I would never touch sushi with a ten foot pole but......early october a friend of mine convinced me to accompany him to a sushi bar. I was very scared and a little lary of the joint. It turned out to be everything opposite of what I was expecting. I tasted a bit of his raw salmon and was hooked!!! Yum. Actually i had sushi yesterday for lunch, after a very trying day of crap homework. yes, sushi roks! Yum, dynamite, and avocada rolls are deliciousooooo.

1 of my many summer faves is......running after the ice cream truck--literally. everytime my sister and i hear the jingle-jangle of the ice cream truck, we always seek eachother out, no matter which part of the house we are in at the moment. we have mastered a plan where 1 person runs outside to stop the truck (no matter what we are wearing. 2 weeks ago i dared my street wearing pj bottoms and an extremely old and quite see-thru t) while the other scrambles up change or bills to pay for the sweet treats. yep, ice cream trucks top my summer time fave.

Can't wait for your next blog. Your number #1 fan of all time.

I'm glad to hear your prom went well-despite problems with and outfit.I always have problems finding dresses and shoes-heck I wear a size 10 too and I know exactly what you're talking about.Atleast in the end you had a good time, thats what its all about!

Wow,I knew there was a launch party but I had no idea how amazing it was. Sounds like a blast :D

I'd have to agree-I love outdoor concerts, hotdogs, water fights& of course the last one, NO WORRIES! Heck yes thats the best part!Around here we're not lucky enough to have ice cream trucks-but I've been places where they do have them and they're so cute with that little music. Other than those I'd have to say swimming is definitly a plus and parties-LOVE parties.

Can't wait to hear more about your summer!

You dress was absolutely gorgeous. That was a great choice. It's also great to know that there are people out there with big feet, because I'm a size 11-12 and it sucks.

vala June 11, 2006 at 8:57 p.m.

Just saw you on MTV while I was watching the mmva's. very cool to see you outside of degrassi things.
p.s., i like the white top that you were sportin'. it looks like it was some form of eyelet. very fashionesta of ya.

Brianna June 12, 2006 at 2:26 p.m.

oh.. I know how you feel.. for homecoming I had a poofy dress and the tall heels just dd not work.. I think a dress like that could just use flipflops... and I also were size 10 shoes and the shoes look ugly on my feet.. that is why I have pairs of flip-flops... they look good on ne ones feet.... well maybe not everyone's feet.. but most peoples

Hey,
I'm sure you looked pretty any ways... besides... the shoe factor it only needed for pics... everyone takes them off anyways. And if you had fun who cares what you looked liked. Have a good summer.

wonu June 12, 2006 at 4:45 p.m.

first off i must say i like your writing style. it was the first thing i noticed when i read your blog. second off i love your dress! well at least the little snippet of it in the pic...lolz. i would have to say the best thing about the summer is definitely being able sleep in. also i love the fact that i don't have to see my teachers' faces for about 8 hours a day and instead i could spend the whole day with my friends.summer's great, isn't?

Noelle June 12, 2006 at 5:03 p.m.

Hey sarah! i hope while you're workin this summer, theres a big storyline in there for liberty????(in other words, can we get an inside scoop, i mean october is a while away) also, i would've love to see the shoes too cuz every girl needs to have a great shoe on at all times (an important rule of being a girl)

melo June 13, 2006 at 3:39 p.m.

Dani June 17, 2006 at 3 a.m.

Wow, I am absolutely floored with your writing skills. Have you ever considered taking up a career in writing? Not only are you a fabulous actress, but you excel in the writing department as well! I'm envious lol

Ok, moving on..

I'm so glad you enjoyed your prom and the Launch party. Things always work out in the end. :)
The pics look great! Your hair and dress was perfection; you looked absolutely gorgeous! Especially love the dress! :)

Oh and I can relate to your shoe dilema; being a size 9 is such a nuisance and sometimes sucks some of the fun out of shoe shopping; though I'm a shoe fanatic regardless. But speaking of shoes, I'm glad you found the perfect pair!

Isn't sushi the best? I was skeptical atfirst because it is afterall, raw fish! But after tasting it, I can easily overlook that now. Sushi = <3

Summer faves? Sleeping in for as long as I want!! No work, no preassure, no worries! :D

gemini June 20, 2006 at 9:20 p.m.
