Hollywood: Out of Control

Thanks for checking out the Lillix blogs on fashion18.com! I’m going to write about what I know, and that is my occupation, the music/“image” industry.

I’m Lacey-Lee Evin (vocals/keyboard) in Lillix. We’ve been a band for almost a decade now and I’ve experienced a lot of good and unfortunately a lot of bad. Lillix was signed to Maverick Records in 2001 and released Falling Uphill in 2003, but before the release Maverick threatened to send Tasha (vocals/guitar) and me to a “fat camp!"

I was 18 at the time, and Tasha was 16. We were NOT fat! Those years are some of the most impressionable years of your life, and to be told you are fat by industry types (when you are a musician, not model) is very damaging to a girl’s confidence and body image. Blame Hollywood for this—the city is out of control these days. You no longer hear about a woman’s talent, just how she looks. It is creating a very judgmental North America.

What those of you reading this blog should know is these women you hear about and see are unhealthy. They look mentally and physically exhausted, and I feel bad for them because it’s not their fault; it’s the pressure and the people they are surrounded by that causes them to take these extreme measures to get the attention and make money. You need to know the image portrayed by Hollywood is not natural OR healthy. You don't have to live up to the expectations of the media. Lillix doesn’t: we eat, we’re healthy, we fight for what we believe in and we’re successful. Stay true to whom you are. Don’t be a follower, be a leader and USE YOUR BRAIN!

I respect and agree with your opinion but im thin and people think im unhealthy and im not, people look at me and think that poor girl so influenced blah blah blah, i know i look amasing and people that are self contious have them selves to blame and are looking form some one to BLAME thier unhealthy lifestyle.

I SOO agree with you, like everyone looks at me and thinks o she must not eat but i can eat way more than friends and they are a little bit bigger than me, I dont think you were EVER fat! It's the music that counts, I wish i could sing as well as u Lillix! haha <33
