Naturistic Style

Earth friendly fashion never looked so good

If Mother Nature opened a clothing store, we’re pretty sure it would be a lot like OQOQO (pronounced OhKoKo). From the guy who brought us Lululemon Athletica, now comes streetwear made from organic, natural and sustainable fabrics.

OQOQO was created out of demand for environmentally and socially conscious clothing that wouldn’t force people to compromise their personal style. By developing a line that looks and feels fantastic and allows people to address their environmental concerns, OQOQO hopes to influence a shift in every stage of the garment-manufacturing process.

“OQOQO wants to make being green the new black,” says Chip Wilson, founder of OQOQO and Lululemon Athletica. “These clothes are not for hippies. They’re for hip, conscious consumers who want eco-friendly style.”

Fabrics for OQOQO garments include SOYLA (soy), BOOLUX (bamboo), HEMPCIOUS (hemp) and organic cotton.  The OQOQO Spring 2006 collection stands out with bright, sophisticated colours, surprising detail and versatile styling.  OQOQO is about expression of personal style.  Extensive combinations of garments occur through layering and items that are reversible—many tops can be worn back-to-front and long skirts can even moonlight as dresses.

“This has been a passion of ours for several years,” says Wilson, “We are excited about OQOQO and its future.”

OQOQO is available at Lululemon stores across the country and OQOQO stores in Victoria, Vancouver and Chicago.
