Willa Holland tells us her secrets
Willa Holland, who is the new season regular on The O.C., divulged some things you probably don’t yet know about her to FASHION18’s Kate Yorga. She’s the teen who every week acts out in ways our inner badass only dreams about, lying, stealing, smoking pot and stealing her sister’s potential boyfriend: she’s Newport Beach’s new kid on the block, wild child Kaitlin Cooper, the younger sister of Marissa (Mischa Barton) with a talent for trouble, who appeared last season on The O.C.. after being away at boarding school.
Kaitlin is played by Willa Holland, who at 15 is actually a hard-working professional model and actor, toiling in both industries since the age of five. She’s less interested in being a bad girl because she intends to be a business mogul by the age of 30. Read on so you can be in the know about this rising star when The O.C. starts up again.
Any story behind your first name?
“My parents just wanted an interesting name.”
Modelling vs. acting?
“I’d like to continue to do both. If I had to make a decision? Acting is my passion. Though modelling is fun work because you’re with different people every time!”
Fave beauty products?
“I live on Chanel concealers and anything Chanel. Plus I love M.A.C. liners.”
What can we expect from Kaitlin? More bad-girl attitude?
“Mum’s the word!”
Do you and Rachel and Mischa share fashion tips?
“Obviously Mischa has the cutest clothes. And I actually want to get a puppy like hers.”
Talk about working with the cast of the film Chasing 3000 (Ray Liotta, Rory Culkin).
“They were funny, joking the whole time on set. They’d always try to make us crack up, making funny faces…”
How has modelling helped/influenced your acting and vice versa?
“It’s made it so it’s really good publicity for me: people can notice my work in acting and modelling in both worlds. I’ve been doing both for the exact same amount of time.”
Do you take acting classes?
“I take privately coached acting classes.”
Spotlight challenge?
“The fact I can’t go to In-N-Out (famous L.A. burger joint) anymore without getting rampaged.”
Spotlight dope?
“I’m doing it all because I love it. The thought’s never crossed my mind to do anything else.”
What would you want with you if you were stranded on a desert island?
“My TV with TiVo, a hammock, an In-N-Out Burger and my cellphone.”
Upcoming?
“Back on The O.C. this fall. Some potential films in the works. I’m looking to get involved with some makeup campaigns/contracts. In the next couple of years I want to live in New York City.”
