How jealous are we of Joanna “JoJo” Levesque? Very!
JoJo The High Road (Universal)
With a hot second album, The High Road, hitting shelves and a bright film career that includes Aquamarine and RV, this 15-year-old (yes, she’s only 15!) has an amazing future ahead of her. In case you’ve been living on another planet and haven’t heard JoJo’s hot new single “Too Little, Too Late,” it’s a fiercely addictive track that serves as the first release from her sophomore album. Fans of JoJo’s self-titled debut will only be more pleased with the followup, an aggressively catchy disc that serves up 12 tracks of pop perfection.
What might surprise you is how this little lady comes across as a modern R&B artist—so much so that you might think you’re listening to Beyoncé. Standout tracks include album opener “This Time” and “Anything,” which features a sample of classic Toto track “Africa.” The title track is also worthy of attention, as it showcases JoJo’s continually amazing vocals.
With an album this enjoyable and a hot side career in film, what is next for the pint-size girl with the huge voice? All signs point to world domination. With this classy followup to her debut album, JoJo is showing us a road worth taking.
