Nora Zehetner's Indie Style

Nora Zehetner is one starlet to keep on your radar. The 25-year-old dark-haired, doe-eyed Texan has been making the scene at the ultra-hip Sundance Film Festival for the past few years, but 2006 will be the year she makes her serious mark on Movieland. Nora has two flicks slated for release this year—the stylish film noir Brick and the thriller Beneath—and she plays the lead in both!
“I have had many great experiences in my career, but playing the character Laura in Brick was probably my favourite.” Other places you may have spotted Nora: the films American Pie 2 and Tart, and on the TV show Everwood. Here’s what makes this indie It Girl tick.

Describe your style.
A cross between Kate Moss and Audrey Hepburn, with a ‘70s Yves Saint Laurent twist. (When Nora was visiting Toronto last year, she couldn’t get enough of vintage shopping paradise Kensington Market.)

What did you do before acting?
I was a clothing buyer for a small boutique in Dallas, Texas.

What can’t you leave home without?
My cell! I like to be connected at all times, especially to my boyfriend. He owns vintage clothing shops, one in L.A. and one in New York, so he’s out of town, in N.Y.C., a lot!

What do you love about spring?
The new birth of life and wearing pretty dresses.

What are you listening to now?
Joanna Newsom and The Lights.

What is your favourite accessory?

Hats. I’m constantly annoyed with my hair, so hats make the most perfect alternative. I love my black beret!

Any embarrassing Sundance Film Fest moments?
At my first Sundance, I was a fashion disaster! I was just trying to stay warm, so I threw on everything and anything that I had. Then I saw the photos of me and was like YIKES! Never again.

What is your beauty essential?
Sunscreen. I have fair skin.

What is your spring fashion must?
Zac Posen’s rolled up shorts.

Coke or Diet Coke?
Definitely Coke!
